Seed phrases: what they protect and how to store a backup

A seed phrase restores a set of private keys and effectively grants control over the assets. An app password usually protects only one device, while the seed phrase can restore the wallet elsewhere.

Do not photograph the phrase or keep it in cloud notes, messengers or email. Those copies may enter backups, synchronization systems or a compromised account.

A sensible baseline is a careful offline copy stored away from other people, water and fire. For meaningful balances, separate an everyday wallet from long-term storage.

Legitimate wallet support does not ask for a seed phrase. Any form, bot or employee requesting it for verification, recovery or a reward is a threat.
